Luke A. White, 42, of Afton, was taken into custody April 2 at Jefferson Street and 169N in Afton on the charge of OWI, second offense. He was also cited for an open container and having a dark window on the vehicle.
According to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 7:20 p.m. a 2011 GMC Sierra was stopped for traffic violations. Contact was made with the driver, identified as White, who had bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Deputies observed open alcoholic beverage containers in the backseat area of the truck.
When asked, White admitted he had been drinking. White consented to field sobriety testing and showed signs and indicators of impairment. He refused a PBT and later refused to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing.
White has a prior OWI conviction.
White was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
