Creston Police: Two people charged for possession of a controlled substance

Garrett N. Thomson, 23, of Creston, was taken into custody April 2 on the charges of domestic abuse assault, first offense and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to Creston Police reports, at approximately 9:10 p.m. an assault was reported at a Creston residence. The victim told police Thomson had been at their residence for approximately 10 minutes and then left the home. When the victim went outside, Thomson was sitting in his car.

The victim and a family member went to the car to speak with Thomson. Thomson pushed the family member to the ground and grabbed the victim by the shirt with both hands and pushed the victim.

While talking with police, Thomson had difficulty keeping his story straight. Initially he denied being at the residence and said he never got out of his car or put his hands on anyone.

A neighbor’s Ring camera showed Thomson getting out of his car and walking quickly across the yard, and Thomson and the victim and family member can be heard yelling. When Thomson was told about the video, he admitted to getting out of his car. Two witnesses accounts of the incident were similar to that of the victim’s.

Thomson admitted he had been drinking and smoking marijuana. He told officers there was a THC vape pen in his car. Officers located the vape on the driver’s seat floorboard.

Thomson was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,300 cash or surety bond.

Holly R. Donehoo, 40, of Creston, was taken into custody April 2 on a Union County warrant for the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, second offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:26 p.m. April 21, 2025, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2013 Toyota Tundra driven by Donehoo, who officers knew to have a suspended license.

During the course of the stop, officers observed a pill bottle in plain view in Donehoo’s purse. The bottle contained a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana. Donehoo made statements about using marijuana within the past 24 hours and said she forgot it was in her purse.

Donehoo has a previous possession conviction in Union County in 2021.

Donehoo failed to satisfy requirements set for her to complete after the stop and had not made any attempt to do so as of March 25.

Donehoo was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
