Adams County: Corning man arrested on parole violation warrant

Sheriff's Office Reports

Brent Romer, 50, of Corning, was taken into custody March 13 on an Adams County warrant charging him with violation of parole.

According to an Adams County District Court report, on March 3 parole officers conducted a home visit at Romer’s residence. During the visit two cell phones were confiscated which both contained a significant amount of pornographic pictures and pornographic sites in the search histories.

Parole officers found three bottles of liquor in his freezer. Romer dumped all the bottles out after being asked without hesitation.

On March 12, during an in-office meeting with his parole officer, Romer admitted to having the two phones: one has active service the other only operates over Wi-Fi.

He admitted to having photos of multiple minor children without permission and storing them on the Wi-Fi phone because he knew he shouldn’t have them. He admitted to having in-person contact with some of the minors without approval and has purchased clothing items and bicycles for some of them.

Romer is engaged in multiple sexual conversations with adult women as well as undisclosed sexual contact with multiple women, two of which are active methamphetamine users and who have been under the influence while around Romer.

Romer admitted to consuming alcohol for about a year while at home, golfing, on a work trip, bonfires and at friends’. He admitted to drinking to the point of intoxication in October 2025 while in Storm Lake and driving home to Adams County while intoxicated, a trip his parole officer was not made aware of.

Romer was also found to be deleting text messages and internet history without approval.

Romer was transported to the Adams County Jail and held without bond.

Justyn Edwards, 18, of Leon, was taken into custody March 13 on the charges of OWI, first offense, driving while license is revoked and failure to equip vehicle with an ignition interlock device.

According to Adams County reports, at approximately 11:07 p.m., a 1990 Pontiac with an equipment violation was observed northbound on Sycamore Avenue. While deputies were turning around to initiate a traffic stop on the Pontiac, the driver and passenger parked, turned off the car and exited it. They were ordered back to the Pontiac by deputies. The driver, identified as Edwards, was asked for his license and vehicle registration and instead handed the deputy a credit/debit card as his license before giving his actual license to law enforcement.

Edwards was required to have an ignition interlock installed and did not. An odor consistent with that of an alcoholic beverage was detected emitting from Edwards and he was observed to have bloodshot, watery eyes. Edwards was ran through field sobriety testing and showed signs of impairment. Edwards’ driver’s license was also found to be revoked.

Edwards was transported to the Adams County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear after his initial appearance.
