Robyn L. Blazek, 36, of Prescott, was taken into custody 11:24 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:17 p.m. a hit-and-run accident was reported in the 500 block of South Maple Street. Witnesses stated they observed a white vehicle and a black vehicle driving on the street and then saw one of them strike a parked trailer. Officers found white vehicle parts in the roadway and fluids from a vehicle that indicated the vehicle was southbound and then turned east at Fremont Street.
Officers located the vehicle, a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse, parked and unoccupied. While leaving the accident scene, officers were flagged down by someone who stated she had the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Blazek, in her car.
Officers spoke with Blazek who told them she had been looking at her phone at the time of the accident and got scared. Officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. She rode with officers to her car to get her vehicle information for the accident report, and officers noted the odor was still present. While speaking with Blazek officers observed she had bloodshot, watery eyes and admitted to drinking two vodka mixed drinks prior to driving.
Blazek refused field sobriety testing, PBT and to provide a breath sample for chemical testing.
Damage to the Traverse was estimated at $6,000 and damage to the trailer was estimated at $500.
Blazek was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
