Adams County: A Corning man was charged with assault in two separate incidents

Sheldon Starr, 28, of Corning, was taken into custody Feb. 2 on Corning Carl Road on the charges of OWI, first offense and possession or carrying of dangerous weapons while under the influence.

According to an Adams County report, at approximately 5:13 p.m. a welfare check was requested on a man passed out in a vehicle at the Corning Gun Club. Deputies observed a male, identified as Starr, asleep in an Acura in the parking lot.

While speaking with Starr, deputies detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. He had bloodshot, watery eyes and difficulty maintaining his balance. Starr admitted to driving and to drinking alcohol.

He consented to field sobriety testing and showed clues of impairment. A PBT indicated his BrAC to be .196%. Two firearms and multiple rounds of ammunition were also in the vehicle.

Starr was transported to the Adams County Jail where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing, the result of which indicated his BAC to be .176%.

Starr was released from the Adams County Jail on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Robert Gard, 54, of Corning, was taken into custody Feb. 5 on an Adams County warrant for failure to appear.

No information was available on the charge.

Kyle Pack, 36, of Corning, was charged Feb. 6 with assault causing bodily injury and harassment, third degree.

According to an Adams County report, at approximately 10:15 p.m. Jan. 29, Pack and the victim were arguing via text message. Pack then drove to the victim’s house with the intent to confront the victim.

According to a witness, Pack retrieved a baseball bat and put it in his vehicle before leaving The witness contacted the victim to warm him they believed Pack was en route to his home and was armed with a bat. The victim armed himself with a handgun due to the warning.

Pack arrived at the victim’s home and while the victim was standing in the doorway of his residence, Pack confronted him and hit him with his fists in the face. The victim responded by striking Pack in the face, breaking his jaw. The victim had a small scratch on his chin from the incident.

A baseball bat was found in Pack’s vehicle.

Pack was mailed citations on both charges.

Kyle Pack, 36, of Corning, was taken into custody Feb. 15, on the charge of domestic abuse assault, second offense.

According to an Adams County report, at approximately 11 p.m. Feb. 14 Pack and the victim had a verbal argument. The victim went into the bathroom and shut the door. Pack then punched a hole in the door, breaking a mirror that was hanging on the inside of the door in the bathroom. Pieces of the mirror struck the victim in the face, causing a laceration. Pack left the residence.

Pack was located by deputies in Brooks. While speaking with Pack, abrasions on the knuckles of his right hand were observed. Pack admitted to punching a door.

Pack was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $2,000 cash or surety bond.
