Adair County: Indiana driver charged with possession of marijuana products

Sheriff's Office Reports

Timmy W. Mohr, 53, of Wabash, Indiana, was taken into custody 11:23 a.m. Feb. 10 at mile marker 86 of Interstate 80 on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to an Iowa State Patrol report, at approximately 7:59 a.m. a 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan, matching the description of a vehicle reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed, was observed eastbound on the interstate. Troopers used radar to clock the Tiguan at 88 and 81 mph in a 70 mph zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Mohr, who appeared agitated and over-animated in character. Mohr stated his cruise control was set at 80 mph. A citation for speeding was printed, and when troopers went back to Mohr’s vehicle to deliver it, they noticed a vape pen resembling those with THC, in the center console. Mohr was asked if it was a THC vape and he said “yeah probably,” and handed them the THC cartridge. Mohr said he hadn’t smoked it in a few days.

During this interaction Mohr continued to be very animated and was becoming louder. Concerned he may be impaired, he was asked to and consented to field sobriety testing. Mohr showed signs and clues of impairment. Mohr admitted to having a bag full THC gummies on the rear-passenger floorboard, which was located by troopers. The bag also included marijuana and rolled joints.

Mohr was placed under arrested for possession and troopers requested a drug recognition expert to meet them at the Adair County Jail. While traveling to the jail, Mohr told troopers he doesn’t drink alcohol anymore but uses the THC products for back issues from working over the years.

At the jail, Mohr consented to provide a breath sample for chemical testing, the result indicated his BAC to be .000. A DRE examination was conducted and reasonable grounds, observations and clues were found to believe Mohr was impaired from a substance other than alcohol.

Mohr provided a urine sample which was sent to the DCI lab for analysis. OWI charges are pending contingent on those results.

Mohr was released from the Adair County Jail after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
