Creston Police: Creston man charged with violating probation

Alex R. Cunningham, 35, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:03 p.m. Jan. 27 at his residence on a Union County warrant for the charge of violation of probation.

According to an Iowa Department of Correctional Services report, Cunningham was sentenced to two years in prison March 14, 2025, after being convicted of stalking and four counts of harassment, first degree. The sentence was suspended and Cunningham was placed on probation for two years.

On Jan. 22, Cunningham was unsuccessfully discharged from a treatment program for a multitude of infractions including an inability to change behavior. He also submitted a urine specimen Aug. 27 which tested positive for THC.

On June 24, Cunningham was charged with eight counts of fifth degree theft in Union County. On June 14, he was arrested in Union County for violation of a no contact order. The protected party in that case is the same victim of the charges Cunningham is on probation for.

Cunningham was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
