Christopher D. Draman, 54, of Lenox, was taken into custody 10:18 p.m. Jan. 18, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:42 p.m. a 2014 Ford Fusion was westbound on Highway 34, traveling above the posted speed limit. The registered owner of the Fusion did not have a valid license.

A traffic stop was initiated, but the Fusion did not immediately yield and pull over. After a short time, the vehicle stopped. As officers approached the Fusion, the driver, later identified as Draman, rolled the back driver’s side window down. He then rolled it up and back down again before opening the driver’s door and telling officers the driver’s window did not work.

Draman admitted to officers that he knew he did not have a valid driver’s license. He was observed to have bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and lethargic movements. There was also a strong odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

Draman made statements about being at a local bar and having “a few” beers. When asked how many a few was, Draman said six. He also made statements about how he felt like he should not be driving.

Draman consented to field sobriety testing and showed numerous validated clues of impairment. A PBT indicated his BrAC to be over .08%. He later consented to provide a breath sample for chemical testing, the result of which showed his BAC to be .197%.

Draman was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
