Accident: Motorcycle slides 270 feet through fence in one-vehicle accident in Creston

Accident Report

A Creston man received multiple citations after wrecking a motorcycle Saturday in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:15 p.m. officers responded to an accident with injuries in the 1100 block of West Spencer Street.

Initially, driver Wyatt B. Beebe, 22, of Creston, and two friends attempted to mislead officers in the accident investigation and stated it was an ATV crash and someone who they did not know picked up the ATV.

Beebe eventually admitted to driving a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound in the 600 block of North Lincoln Street behind a friend. The friend slowed down abruptly, causing Beebe to lose control of the motorcycle and lay it on its side. The motorcycle slid approximately 270 feet and crashed through a PVC fence before coming to rest.

Beebe’s friends then helped push the motorcycle from the scene and hide it in Beebe’s garage. Beebe stated he was traveling 25mph, but it was apparent speed was a factor due to the distance the motorcycle slid.

Beebe was cited for failing to provide proof of financial liability - accident related, no valid driver’s license, careless driving and operating a non-registered vehicle.

A female passenger was transported to Greater Regional Health by ambulance for injuries and Beebe was noted to have significant road rash on his arms.

Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $3,000 and damage to fencing was estimated at $2,000.
