Creston Police: After months of incidents, Creston man is charged with felony stalking

Timothy A. Giggar, 45, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:12 p.m. Jan. 8, at his residence on a Union County warrant for the charge of harassment, third degree.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 5:42 p.m. Dec. 23, Giggar was reported for threatening a family member who was in the process of moving out of Giggar’s residence. Giggar had told the victim that if they had police with them when they attempted to get their belongings, he would not let them have it. The victim decided to not involve police and attempted to handle the situation by themselves but things escalated and the victim then called police.

At approximately 9:27 p.m., the victim reported Giggar had made a post about them and tagged them in a comment on the post on Facebook which called the victim derogatory names.

Giggar was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond until his initial appearance.

Austin A. Jones, 31, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:03 p.m. Jan. 8, at his residence on a Union County warrant for the the charges of stalking - violation of a protective order and harassment, first degree.

According to a Creston Police report, in November a protected party in a no contact order against Jones reported multiple violations of the order by Jones.

According to a Creston Police report, investigations indicated Sept. 30 - Nov. 14 Jones purposely engaged in conduct directed specifically at the victim causing them to be frightened and threatened. The victim told Jones multiple times they felt this way.

The victim provided a recording of a phone call Nov. 6 in which they told Jones he was scaring them because he had just threatened to kill them. The victim is crying in the recording. Other incidents in this time frame include assault with a dangerous weapon, multiple no contact order violations and harassment. Jones called the victim repeatedly from 23 different phone numbers and threatened to kill them.

Jones was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $25,000 cash-only bond.
