Creston Police: Creston man charged for violating protective order after release from jail

Austin A. Jones, 31, of Creston, was taken into custody 12:55 a.m. Jan. 3 at 102 W. Taylor St. on the charge of contempt - violation of no contact or protective order.

According to a Creston Police report, a protected party in a protective order against Jones provided recordings of two phone calls made by Jones to them Jan. 2.

When officers made contact with Jones, they asked to see the call log on his phone. The log showed outgoing calls to the victim at the times reported by the victim.

Jones was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $500 cash-only bond.

Correction: In Creston arrests published Jan. 5, the bond for Austin Jones was incorrectly listed as $260,000. The correct bond was $62,000 cash or surety.
