Creston Police: Creston man charged for domestic assault, narcotic possession

Ryan J. Parmenter, 29, of Creston, was taken into custody 12:19 p.m. Dec. 30, in the 900 block of Sherman Avenue on the charges of domestic abuse assault impeding air flow causing bodily injury and possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, second offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:20 a.m. Dec. 30, a female reported she and Parmenter had been in a verbal argument which turned physical when Parmenter pushed the victim against the bedroom wall. The victim then defended herself before Parmenter threw the victim on the bed and choked the victim with one hand, leaving visible red marks on the victim’s neck. The victim told officers she could not breath and thought she was going to die during the assault.

A witness stopped the assault by pushing Parmenter off of the victim.

Parmenter was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center. Before being taken to the jail, Parmenter and his belongings were searched. A small baggie containing a crystalline substance was located in Parmenter’s wallet. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Parmenter was held in the Union County Jail on $7,000 cash or surety bond.
