Creston Police: Orient man charged with felony narcotics possession

Jack H. Davis, 57, of Orient, was taken into custody 9:49 a.m. Dec. 16, at Cherry Street and College Drive on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:15 a.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a 2007 Ford Taurus for not having license plates. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Davis.

During the stop, Creston Police K-9 Olga was requested to conduct a free-air sniff and gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics coming from the Taurus.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Officers located marijuana, methamphetamine and a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine next to the driver’s seat. Davis admitted the items were his.

Davis has prior narcotics possession convictions in 2019 and 2014 in Union County and in 2009 in Decatur County.

Davis was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $10,300 cash or surety bond.

Michael C. Miller, 62, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:01 p.m. Dec. 16, in the 400 block of South Sumner Avenue on the charge of driving while license denied, suspended, cancelled or revoked.

According to a Creston Police report, Miller was observed driving a 2015 Ford Fusion at Highway 25 and Fremont Street. Miller has a revoked driver’s license.

Miller was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.
