Accident: Driver cited for running stop sign, causing accident

One driver was cited and the other was injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle accident in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:07 a.m. a 2011 Ford Explorer, driven by Kristi L. Wieland, 44, of Creston, was northbound on Elm Street at the Irving Street intersection. As the Explorer crossed the intersection it was struck by an eastbound 2014 Dodge Ram, driven by Corina J. Buchanan, 33, of Creston.

Buchanan had a stop sign but did not stop. She was issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right-of-way.

Wieland was transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Health for suspected minor injuries.

Damage to the Explorer was estimated at $5,000 and damage to the Ram was estimated at $4,000.
