Accident: Driver ticketed in rural Union County crash

No injuries were reported Saturday in a two-vehicle accident in Union County.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 2:30 p.m. a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Jacob L. Hubbard, 38, was westbound on 240th Street crossing the Clover Avenue intersection. At the same time, a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Juaneber De la Cruz Ruiz, 40, of Kent, was northbound on Clover Avenue.

The Cruze proceeded through the intersection without stopping at the posted stop sign and stuck the back of the Silverado.

Impact caused the Silverado to turn and strike the stop sign for southbound traffic on Clover Avenue before coming to rest in the southwest ditch.

De la Cruz Ruiz was cited by mail for failure to obey the stop sign.

Damage to the Silverado was estimated at $5,000 and damage to the Cruze was estimated at $3,000. Damage to the stop sign was estimated at $500.
