Driving too fast for conditions contributed to a two-vehicle accident Friday in Creston.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:07 p.m. a 1997 GMC Sierra, driven by Elijah B. Hoyt, 27, of Creston, was westbound on Irving Street and was unable to stop at the stop sign at Elm Street due to weather conditions.
As the GMC entered the intersection it struck a northbound 2020 Ford Edge, driven by Joshua E. Smith, 43, of Creston. The Ford then spun around and went over the curb and the GMC made contact with a light pole.
Hoyt was issued citations for failure to provide proof of financial liability - accident and failure to maintain a reasonable and propor speed.
Damage to the Ford was estimated at $7,000. There was no damage to the GMC due to having a plow mount on the front of it. The damage to the pole was estimated at $100.
