Adair County: Inmate charged with contempt after sending text from jail

James A. Davis, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:23 p.m. Nov. 2, at the Adair County Sheriff’s Office on the charge of violation of no contact order.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 11:36 p.m. Nov. 1, deputies were notified by an Adair County jailer of an inmate, identified as Davis, who had violated a protective order by texting a protected party from the jail.

Deputies contacted the protected party and confirmed the contact as well as the phone number contacted which matched that of a number Davis texted. The number had been saved under another name to avoid detection.

Davis continued his incarceration in the Adair County Jail without bond.

Derik W. Pickrell, 40, of Fontanelle, was taken into custody 7:20 p.m. Nov. 4, at Southeast Fifth Street and Southeast Kent Street in Greenfield on the charge driving while barred.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 7:16 p.m., deputies observed a 2001 Ford F150 parked at the gas pumps at the Greenfield Casey’s. Earlier in the month, deputies had observed a known barred driver, identified as Pickrell, driving the truck. The truck also had improper equipment.

A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with Pickrell who was confirmed to have a barred Iowa driver’s license.

Pickrell was cited and released on a summons to appear.

Emily R. M. Dohrn, 23, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:24 o.m. Nov. 8, in the 3300 block of Highway 25, on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 8:42 p.m. a 2001 Ford Taurus was stopped for not having license plates. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Dohrn, and passenger, and the odor of marijuana was detected. A vape pen was also observed near Dohrn’s foot. Dohrn admitted it contained THC and also handed deputies a marijuana grinder.

Before the probable cause search was conducted, the male passenger admitted there was marijuana and a pipe in the glove box. During a search of the car, three used needles and two glass methamphetamine pipes with residue were found in a pack on the rear floor board behind the driver’s seat. Dohrn admitted to the pack being hers and also admitted to knowing of a bong with residue found in the trunk. Additional marijuana pipes and a roach were located throughout the car.

Dohrn was cited and released on a summons to appear.
