Adair County: Cocaine, marijuana seized during traffic stop on I-80

Erik B. McKinney, 40, of Merrillville, Indiana, was taken into custody 10:30 a.m. Oct. 23, on Interstate 80 in Greenfield on the charge of possession of a controlled substance, first offense.

According to an Iowa State Patrol report, at approximately 8:37 a.m. a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox was stopped after being observed traveling 81 mph in a 70 mph zone. Contact was made with the driver, identified as McKinney, and the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.

McKinney admitted to having a THC vape pen and a marijuana joint in the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted and the marijuana items were located in the vehicle. Also located in a bag found on the front passenger seat was a small baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

McKinney was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Lynden J. Wollman, 18, of Aberdeen, South Dakota, was taken into custody 7:46 p.m. Oct. 24, in the 100 block of South Fifth Street in Adair on the charges of possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to an Adair Police report, three males were observed in the Budget Inn Motel sitting in a 2019 Chevrolet Impala acting suspiciously. As officers exited a patrol vehicle, one passenger in the car immediately rolled up the front passenger side window. When the subject was told to roll the window down, he complied, and the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the car.

The driver, identified as Wollman, was asked where the marijuana was, and he handed officers a small amount of marijuana and a grinder. He admitted the marijuana was his.

Wollman was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
