Ava N. Sales, 19, of Cedar Rapids, was taken into custody 1:22 a.m. Oct. 21, at Lincoln Street and Orchard Drive on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:26 p.m. Oct. 20, a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was stopped after it was observed traveling 39 mph in 25 mph zone. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Sales, and the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the car.

When asked about the odor, Sales stated there was not any marijuana in the car because they had just smoked it. A probable cause search produced a small container of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana. Sales told officers the marijuana was from a month ago.

Sales was cited and released on a summons to appear.
