Accident: Truck attempted to move over for firetruck causes accident

No injuries were reported Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 8:33 a.m. a 2007 Volvo dump truck, driven by Dillon Bailey, 28, of Creston, was northbound in the inside lane of Sumner Avenue. At the same time, a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Allison J. Anderson, 18, of Mount Ayr, was northbound in the outside lane.

A firetruck, responding to a call with lights and sirens on, was southbound on Sumner Avenue. The Volvo, in response to the emergency vehicle, attempted to merge to the outside lane and collided with the Chevrolet.

Bailey stated he did not see the Chevrolet when merging, resulting in the collision.

Damage to the Equinox was estimated at $3,000 and damage to the Volvo was estimated at $1,000.
