Accidents: A one-vehicle accident sends driver to hospital by ambulance

A Creston driver was injured Wednesday in a one-vehicle accident near Creston.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 5:42 p.m. a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by John A. Hoepker, 69, of Creston, was, southbound on Iris Avenue near 1803 Iris Ave. when it drove into the west ditch. The Silverado then went over the second driveway at the residence, leaving tire marks behind and striking a fence post.

The Silverado reentered the roadway and then drove into the east ditch before stopping.

Hoepker complained of minor pain at the scene and was transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Health.

Damage to the Silverado was estimated at $1,000 and damage to the fence post was estimated at $50.

No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday near Cromwell.

A 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Alyssa F. Pearson, 17, of Corning, was eastbound on Cromwell Road. Pearson told deputies she looked down at her radio and when she looked back up she saw a 2015 KIA Sorento, driven by Linda S. Johannes, 65, of Corning, stopped in the roadway in front of her.

The Sorento, also eastbound on Cromwell Road, was waiting to turn north onto Clover Avenue. Pearson said she did not have time to stop and was unable to avoid hitting the Sorento.

Damage to the Malibu was estimated at $8,500 and damage to the Sorento was estimated at $5,000.
