Jacob J. Hackley, 29, of Creston, was taken into custody Sept. 21, on the charges of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness, first offense, and interference with official acts.
According to a Union County report, at approximately 3:44 p.m. Hackley and a family member who reside in the same home got into a verbal argument inside their residence. During the argument, the victim stated Hackley cussed and called them names before grabbing the victim by the throat and shoving them, which caused the victim to fall backwards to the ground and hit their head and back. The victim required emergent medical care.
Hackley left the residence prior to deputies arriving but was located near REA and 12 Mile Lake roads, close to the residence. Hackley was hostile and aggressive toward deputies and refused orders to stop. He stated that the victim had shoved him, so he shoved the victim back.
