Accident: Two-vehicle rollover accident sends three to hospital

Accident Report

Three people were taken to the hospital Monday after a two-vehicle rollover accident in Union County.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 7:24 a.m. a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Katie L. Myers, 33, of Creston, was eastbound on 150th Street. As the Silverado proceeded through the Adams-Union Avenue intersection, it struck a southbound 2022 Jeep Compass, driven by Devan L. DeHass, 25, of Creston.

Due to thick fog, DeHass failed to see the stop sign at the intersection and pulled into the path of the Silverado. Impact from the collision caused the Compass to go into the southeast corner of the intersection, rolling several times before hitting stacked round bales, where it came to rest on its wheels.

The Silverado also went into the southeast ditch and came to rest just east of the intersection.

DeHass had to be extricated from the Compass and was transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Health for suspected serious injuries.

Myers and a 7-year-old passenger were transported by private vehicle to Greater Regional Health for possible injuries.

Damages to the Silverado and Compass were estimated at $20,000 each.
