Union County: Creston man charged for slapping girlfriend

Brandon C. Millsap, 40, of Creston, was taken into custody Sept. 11, at his residence on the charge of domestic abuse assault, first offense.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 2:55 p.m., Millsap was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend at his residence on Maranatha Lane in Creston.

Millsap initially stated the dispute was only a verbal argument. The victim stated the two were arguing when Millsap hit the left side of her face with an open hand. Deputies did observe a slight red mark on the left side of the victim’s face.

As Millsap was taken into custody, he told deputies the victim had spit on him. When asked why he was changing his initial story, he said he was protecting the victim.

Millsap was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear after seeing the magistrate.
