Creston Police: Speeding drunk driver charged

Angel E. Medina, 22, of Creston, was taken into custody 12:15 a.m. Sept. 4, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:40 p.m. Sept. 3, officers observed a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado traveling 44 mph in a 25 mph zone on Highway 25.

A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Medina, who had slurred speech, bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Medina told officers he had drank two beers two hours earlier.

Medina consented to field sobriety testing and showed multiple clues of impairment during those tests. He refused a PBT. Medina was transported to the law enforcement center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The test result indicated his BAC to be .126%.

Medina was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
