Brandon S. Molina-de-Leon, 18, of Des Moines, was taken into custody 11:34 p.m. Sept. 5 in the 3000 block of Henry A. Wallace Road on the charges of driving while license is revoked, possession of alcohol by persons under age 21 and speeding - 20 plus mph over posted speed limit.
According to Adair County reports, a 2006 Chevrolet Impala was observed near 300th Street on Henry A. Wallace Road traveling at 82 mph in a 55 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the vehicle’s occupants.
The registered owner, a female passenger, provided the vehicle information to deputies. The male driver, identified as Molina-de-Leon, told deputies he did not have a license. A check of his information showed his license to be revoked.
After being taken into custody, a search of Molina-de-Leon’s person resulted in deputies locating vape products, which neither Molina-de-Leon nor the passenger were old enough to possess.
When the passenger stepped out of the vehicle, deputies observed an alcohol container and vape in plain view in the passenger door. A probable cause search was conducted and more alcohol was located. Molina-de-Leon took ownership of beer found in the backseat, while the passenger claimed the alcohol found in the passenger door.
Molina-de-Leon was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
