Lorimor man thrown from motorcycle in Lucas Co. collision

A Lorimor man was seriously injured Thursday in a two-vehicle accident in Lucas County.

According to an Iowa State Patrol report, at approximately 7:21 p.m. a 1996 Ford Explorer, driven by Perry L. Housman, 79, of Chariton, was traveling on South Eighth Street in Chariton. Housman attempted to pull onto Highway 34 but failed to yield to oncoming traffic to the left.

The Ford pulled into the path of a 2008 Harley Davidson Street Glide, driven by Curtis A. Decker, 60, of Lorimor. The Harley struck the Ford, causing Decker to be thrown from the motorcycle.

Decker was transported by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines for serious injuries.

Assisting Iowa State Patrol at the scene were Chariton Police Department, Chariton Fire Department, Lucas County Sheriff’s Office and Lucas County Ambulance.
