A Corning man, who formerly resided in Creston, has been charged with felony sexual abuse of a child by Creston Police.

Eric D. Batson, 36, was taken into custody Thursday night on a Union County warrant charging him with four counts of sexual abuse, second degree, a Class B felony.

Batson is accused of sexually abusing a preschool-aged child victim on multiple occasions from March to May 2024. The abuse occurred at a Creston home where Batson was residing at the time.

A forensic interview at the Blank Children’s Hospital Star Center deemed the victim credible.

Creston Police reports state Batson touched the victim in a sexual nature with his hands, face and an object, as well as sodomized the victim with his finger.

If convicted, Batson could receive up to 25 years in prison on each count and would be required to serve 70%, or 17.5 years, if the maximum sentence is imposed.

Batson is being held without bond in the Union County Jail.
