James A. Davis, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody Aug. 7 on two Union County warrants, the first for one count of harassment, first degree and the second for six counts of stalking; five counts of harassment, first degree; three counts of harassment, third degree and one count extortion.

According to Creston Police reports, on July 17 Davis sent text messages to victim one containing sexually suggestive photos. The texts were sent from randomly-generated phone numbers while Davis pretended to be an ex-girlfriend.

Davis sent text messages over multiple weeks to victim one and the victim’s family, which made the victim believe the victim’s house was going to be burglarized and that the victim’s children would be hurt. On Aug. 3, Davis sent the victim threatening text messages, defined as a forcible felony. In interviews with police, Davis admitted to contacting the victim and others using various numbers.

Between July 1 and July 28, Davis sent over 68 text messages from over 14 different phone numbers to a second victim while pretending to be someone else. The messages were sexually suggestive and some were sexually explicit. Davis did not stop texting the victim after being asked several times.

A third victim received text messages July 28 about having an affair from Davis, who was pretending to be someone else.

On July 17, a fourth victim was engaged in a text conversation with Davis, who was pretending to be an ex-girlfriend. When asked to stop by the victim, the sender said they would stop for $5,000 and then that the harassment would never end. Davis sent messages to victim four containing photos of the victim’s mother, who is deceased, and claimed to be at the victim’s daughter’s house. Davis sent messages about the victim being unable to save the daughter and that he should have the victim killed.

On July 13, Davis sent text messages to a fifth victim threatening the victim, claiming to be at the victim’s parents’ house and stating he was going to kill the victim’s sibling.

A sixth victim had sexually explicit photos of themselves sent by Davis to at least two other people without the consent of the victim. Davis pretended to be the victim when sending the photos in an attempt to get the victim into trouble.

A seventh victim received text messages July 13 from Davis who used three different phone numbers. Davis made statements about being at the victim’s house, burglarizing the victim’s parents’ home and killing the victim.

Davis was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $29,000 cash or surety bond.
