Steven C. Lamer, 41, of Creston, was taken into custody 12:40 p.m. July 18, at Sycamore and Irving streets on the charge of theft, fifth degree.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:35 p.m. Casey’s General Store reported a male had left the store on Sumner Avenue with stolen items.
Officers located a man matching the description given by employees who was drinking a half-gallon of chocolate milk. The male, identified as Lamer, told officers he had attempted to pay for the items but said money had been disappearing from his EBT card and he wasn’t going to starve to death. Numerous drinks and food items belonging to Casey’s were located on Lamer.
Lamer was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear after his initial court appearance.

Jeffrey D. Dillenburg Jr., 24, of Creston, was taken into custody 10:15 p.m. July 19, at Lincoln and Townline streets on a Union County warrant for the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:16 a.m. May 14, a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban was stopped on Howard Street for having an obstructed license plate. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Dillenburg. While interacting with Dillenburg, officers noticed numerous signs of impairment. Dillenburg admitted to using drugs the previous night. He consented to field sobriety and ARIDE testing and showed numerous clues of impairment.
Dillenburg was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center for further testing. He consented to provide a urine sample for chemical testing, which was sent to the DCI Lab for further testing.
Results from the sample showed a positive presence of methamphetamine and marijuana which met or exceeded the levels established by Iowa Code.
Dillenburg was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Travis D. Sheive, 37, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:18 a.m. July 20, in the 100 block of East Adams Street on the charge of public intoxication.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:11 a.m. Sheive was observed passed out in an alleyway near Fareway. Law enforcement had previously spoken to Sheive for having an open alcoholic beverage in public. Sheive was observed to have bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and made admissions to consuming alcoholic beverages.
Sheive refused a PBT and had the odor consistent with an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person.
Sheive was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released on his own recognizance on a promise to appear after his initial court appearance.
