Michael R. Meek, 41, and April M. Roberts, 38, both of Mount Ayr, were taken into custody at 10:45 p.m. July 8, at Highway 34 and Pole Road. Meek was charged with driving while barred and Roberts was charged with possession of paraphernalia.

According to Creston Police reports, at approximately 10:35 p.m. officers observed a 2005 Ford F250 eastbound on Highway 34. After running the license plate information and discovering the registered owner of the truck, identified as Meek, had a barred license, a traffic stop was conducted.

Officers identified the driver to be Meek and asked if he was aware he did not have a license and he said he was not. Dispatch confirmed Meek to have a barred license.

A passenger in the truck, identified as Roberts, was asked if there was anything illegal in the truck. Roberts gave officers a small wooden box which contained marijuana and a one-hitter pipe.

Due to Robert’s being compliant and honest, officers decided to cite and release her on a summons to appear and did not charge her with possessing the marijuana.

Meek was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
