Adams County: 148 grams of marijuana found in truck

Zach Gilbert, 34, of Nodaway, was taken into custody June 6 on the charge of domestic abuse assault - impeding the flow of air or blood, causing bodily injury.

According to an Adams County report, at approximately 11 p.m. June 5, deputies responded to a domestic incident at a residence on 10th Avenue in Nodaway.

Gilbert and the female victim began fighting after the victim read messages on Gilbert’s phone from other women. The verbal argument turned physical when the victim took the phone. At one point the victim stated Gilbert was on top of her with his hands around her neck making it difficult for her to breathe. Red marks and bruising were observed on the victim’s neck.

Gilbert told deputies the victim had hit and kicked him but did not have any signs of physical abuse. Deputies did observe a bite mark on his left hand near his thumb.

Gilbert was transported to the Adams County Jail where he was released from after posting $15,000 cash or surety bond.

Renessa R. Salinas, 32, of Waterloo, was taken into custody June 6 on 148N on the charges of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, second offense and possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, second offense. She was additionally cited for speeding and driving under suspension.

According to Adams County reports, at approximately 11:33 p.m. a 2022 Ford F250 was stopped for traveling 73 mph in a 55 mph zone. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Salinas, and the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the truck. Salinas admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and to having last smoked around 7 p.m.

A probable cause search was conducted. Cigar wraps, a container with a green leafy substance, grinder, plastic baggie containing shake and a blunt were found in the truck.

Salinas was transported to the Adams County Jail where she admitted to having a folded up bill in her wallet containing a controlled substance. Deputies located the bill and tested the substance, which field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Salinas was released from the Adams County Jail after posting $500 cash only bond.

Kenton R. Ward, 28, of Spickard, Missouri, was taken into custody June 11, at Highway 25 and 265th Street on the charges of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and possession of paraphernalia.

According to an Adams County report, at approximately 10:21 p.m. a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado was stopped for traveling 69 mph in a 55 mph zone. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Ward, who was observed to have slurred speech, and the odor of marijuana was detected.

Ward told deputies he had not smoked since morning but did admit to there being marijuana in the truck. A probable cause search was conducted during which a vape pen with a THC cartridge, 148 grams of marijuana, 1 gram of liquid THC and a marijuana pipe were located.

Ward was transported to the Adams County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,300 cash or surety bond.
