Accidents: Car backs over motorcycle Thursday in Creston

No citations were issued in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:29 p.m. a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Vickie A. Bohn, 57, of Creston, was southbound on Elm Street when it was hit by a 2022 Nissan Murano, driven by Lois J. Ehrenfried, 75, of Fontanelle.

The eastbound Murano failed to yield the right-of-way to the Malibu at the Adams Street intersection leading to the accident.

Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

Two people were injured Wednesday in a one-vehicle rollover accident in Union County.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 2:46 p.m. a 2004 Kia Sorento, driven by Jerry M. DeGonia, 17, of Diagonal, was southbound in the 2200 block of Clover Avenue when DeGonia lost control of the Kia. The Kia entered the east ditch, proceeded into the west ditch and rolled, before coming to rest back in the east ditch.

DeGonia was ejected from the vehicle and was transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Health for medical treatment. A 14-year-old passenger in the vehicle was also injured and was transported by private vehicle to Greater Regional Health.

Damage to the Kia was estimated at $15,000

No injuries were reported Thursday when a car backed over a motorcycle in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:30 p.m. June 19, a 2003 Honda Accord, driven by Stacia M. Mongar, 33, of Creston, was westbound on Prairie Street at the Sumner Avenue intersection when she realized she forgot something at home.

Mongar began to back up with the intent to back into a nearby driveway and turn around. As the Accord began to reverse, it backed over a 2019 Honda CRF250 motorcycle, driven by Gannon A. Greenwalt, 20, of Creston, which was stopped behind the Accord.

Greenwalt was able to jump off the motorcycle before it was ran over.

Damage to the Accord was estimated at $500 and damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $5,000.
