A driver accelerating instead of braking led to a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Creston.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2 p.m. a 2005 Ford Taurus, driven by Darlene J. Blazek, 87, of Creston, was southbound in the 200 block of Maple Street, when she pulled into a parking area on the west side of the street.
Blazek believed she had put the Taurus in park but it began reversing. Instead of applying the brakes, Blazek accelerated backwards and struck a legally parked 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Police have asked Blazek be reexamined for her driver’s license status due to concerns of her being unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Damage to the Taurus was estimated at $1,500 and damage to the Grand Cherokee was estimated at $2,000.
