Mauricio Andres Trejos Casteneda, 26, of Creston, was taken into custody 2:40 p.m. June 16, in the 200 block of West Taylor Street on two counts of harassment, first degree, fourth or subsequent offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:23 p.m. Trejos Casteneda approached a husband and wife while at a gas station and threatened bodily harm to the man. The victim and Trejos Casteneda did not know each other. He also approached a female who he did not know at the same location and began yelling at her in Spanish, causing her to be fearful.

Trejos Casteneda was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $4,000 cash or surety bond.

Nathan L. Novotny, 20, of Creston, was taken into custody 3:45 p.m. June 16, at Lincoln Street and Manor Drive on the charges of driving while barred and possession of a controlled substance, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:43 p.m, a 2021 Dodge Charger, known to be driven by Novotny, was observed at the intersection of Townline and Lincoln streets. As officers drove past the Charger, Novotny was observed driving the car and it was confirmed he had a barred license.
By the time officers were able to get to the vehicle, it was parked on Manor Drive, unoccupied. Novotny was observed walking a short distance from the car. Officers called for him to come over to them but Novotny kept walking. He was located in the lower level of an apartment building near where he was seen walking.
A trash can in the vicinity where Novotny was taken into custody had the bag partially off as if someone had removed it slightly. Inside the trash can was a small bottle with seven unmarked white rectangular pills. The bottle was labeled “Farmapram” and “Alprazolam,” which is a Schedule IV substance. Novotny does not have a prescription for Alprazolam.
Officers also noted that during a May incident, Novotny had pills matching the same description on him in an unmarked bag.
Novotny was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $3,000 cash or surety bond.

Daniel L. Fasce, 41, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:08 p.m. June 17, in the 900 block of North Sumner Street on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.
No details were available on the charge.
Fasce was cited and released on a summons to appear.

At approximately 10:57 a.m. June 17, Lincoln’s Lawn Care, of Lenox, reported the theft of a John Deere 322 Lawn Tractor that was parked east of Country Club Drive in Creston.
The tractor has concrete filled wheel weights, a missing rear taillight and dry-rotted seat.
Estimated loss of property is $3,000.
