Creston Police: Clearfield and Creston women face drug, impaired driving charges

Nichole A. Hayes, 50, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:49 p.m. June 6, in the 1500 block of North Lincoln Street on the charge of OWI, first offense. Hayes was also cited for driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix was stopped for multiple equipment violations. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Hayes, who was discovered to have a suspended license. While speaking with Hayes, officers noticed several signs of impairment.

Hayes consented to field sobriety and ARIDE testing and showed validated clues of impairment during the tests. An evaluation was completed by a drug recognition expert who also found multiple validated clues of impairment. Hayes admitted to methamphetamine use earlier in the day.

Hayes was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where she consented to provide a urine sample for chemical testing.

She was released from the Union County Jail on her own recognizance on a summons to appear.

Jayden R. V. Peavler, 21, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:46 p.m. June 6, at his residence on the charges of domestic abuse assault - display or use weapon and harassment, first degree.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:43 p.m. Peavler assaulted a minor family member by slapping the victim in the head which caused pain and redness to the victim’s ear area. Peavler threatened to kill the victim and displayed a knife which caused the victim and other family members to be in fear of their safety.

Peavler was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $4,000 cash or surety bond.

Jessie A. Peckham, 33, of Clearfield, was taken into custody 12:36 p.m. June 7, in the 400 block of East Townline Street on the charges of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense; possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, first offense; OWI, first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:08 a.m. officers responded to an alarm at Casey’s General Store (Casey’s North). A 2013 Dodge Journey was observed in the east end of the store’s parking lot, running and occupied. Officers made contact with the driver, identified as Peckham, to see if she was a store employee and if she had seen anything or anyone suspicious. Peckham told officers she was not an employee and noticed nothing suspicious.

While speaking with Peckham, the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Peckham denied there being any marijuana in the vehicle.

A probable cause search was conducted and a marijuana blunt and pipe with marijuana residue were found in the vehicle. Officers also found two methamphetamine pipes. Peckham was asked if she had anything illegal on her person to which she said yes and produced a baggie and small jar from her pocket which both contained a white crystalline substance. Both field tested positive for methamphetamine.

While speaking with Peckham, she was observed to have very bloodshot, watery eyes, dilated pupils and impaired balance. She also had large heat bumps on her tongue. Peckham admitted to having smoked marijuana approximately one hour prior.

Peckham consented to field sobriety and ARIDE testing and showed numerous validated clues and indicators of impairment. She refused to provide a urine sample for chemical testing.

Peckham was transported to the Adams County Jail where she was released from after posting $3,000 cash or surety bond.
