According to Creston Police and Iowa State Patrol reports, at approximately 8:49 p.m. May 3, Jason L. Hagle, 51, was westbound on Highway 34 (Taylor Street) on his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle. As the Harley reached the Wyoming Street intersection, a southbound 1995 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Ash, that had been stopped at the stop sign, began to make a right turn onto the highway, turning directly into the path of the Harley.

Hagle braked but was unable to avoid the collision which caused the Harley to slide on its side before coming to rest. Ash did not stop but the truck was found nearby unoccupied.

Hagle was transported by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines for his injuries.

Ash has a preliminary hearing on the felony charges 2:30 p.m. June 6 and pretrial conference 11 a.m. Aug. 26, for his misdemeanor charges in Union County District Court.

He is being held in the Union County Jail on $10,600 cash or surety bond.
