Creston Police: Creston man charged with violating probation

Joel R. Gross, 48, of Creston, was taken into custody 4:46 p.m. June 1, in the 1000 block of North Division Street on two Union County warrants, both for the charge of violation of probation.

According to Iowa Department of Correctional Services reports, Gross was convicted March 23, 2021, on two counts of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and unlawful possession of prescription drugs. He received a suspended sentence with probation imposed on all charges.

Gross has violated the terms of his probation due to probation officers being unable to make contact with him. He has not made any payments toward fines and fees imposed and was a no call, no show for a scheduled probation appointment.

Gross was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $2,000 cash or surety bond.
