Madison County: Afton couple charged with felony burglary

Travis J. Klos, 40, and Briget G. Carroll, 39, both of Afton, were taken into custody May 23 on the charge of burglary, third degree.

According to Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports, at approximately 11:20 p.m. March 29, Klos and Carroll entered a convience store on East Street in Macksburg. After entering, Carroll put her arm in the dispensing slot of a vending machine and somehow opened the machine. Carroll took three food items from the machine, valued at $6.

A few hours later, Klos returned to the store and opened the machine again. This time, Klos removed the cash box from the machine and left with it. The box is valued at $500 and contained an estimated $75 in currency.

Klos and Carroll were transported to the Madison County Jail where they were released from after each posted $1,000 cash or surety bond.
