Adair County: Casey’s employee stealing cash from register

Samantha A. Wright, 39, of Des Moines, was taken into custody 11:32 p.m. May 4, at Eighth and Blackhills streets in Stuart on the charge of driving while barred.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 11:12 p.m. a 1999 Buick LeSabre was stopped for having a non-functioning center brake light in the back window. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Wright, who was found to have a barred license as a habitual offender. Wright did have a temporary restricted license allowing her to drive to and from her place of employment, but Wright said she was picking up her boyfriend from work in Stuart.

Wright was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

Kyle L. Wilson, 30, of Griswold, was taken into custody 9:27 p.m. May 5, at the Adair County Sheriff’s Office on an Adair County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of violation of probation.

According to an Adair County District Court document, Wilson was ordered to appear April 25 for a hearing on the original charge and did not.

Wilson was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was ordered to serve 14 days in jail.

Lindsay L. Hommes, 41, of Adair, turned herself in at 1 p.m. May 9, to the Adair County Jail in Greenfield on an Adair County warrant for the charge of theft, fourth degree.

According to an Adair Police report, on April 29, Casey’s General Store in Adair reported a theft by an employee, identified as Hommes. A Casey’s manager provided officers with security footage from April 3 which showed Hommes taking money out of the register and putting it in her pocket on three occasions. At approximately 7:27 p.m. Homes took 14 $20 bills out the register after helping a customer and is seen rolling up the money and walking away. At 8:22 p.m. Homes took a $100 dollar bill out of the register after she had closed and reopened it. At 10:06 p.m. Hommes is shown taking what appeared to be two $20 bills out of the register and putting them in her pocket.

Hommes was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released fro, on her own recognizance by the courts at her initial appearance.
