Melissa K. Stephenson, 38, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:30 p.m. May 6 in the 800 block of Laurel Street on a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of theft, fifth degree.
According to a Union County District Court document, Stephenson was ordered to appear March 25 for an initial appearance on the original charge and did not.
Stephenson was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $300 cash only bond.

Amber N. Torres, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:02 p.m. May 6 in the 400 block of North Vine Street on the charge of public intoxication.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 8:42 p.m. a female was reported to be walking eastbound on Prairie Street swinging a baseball bat. While officer’s were looking for the female, a second report was received stating the female was in the 400 block of North Vine Street hitting a car with the bat and was possibly involved in a domestic disturbance.
Officers located the female, later identified as Torres, in an alley attempting to pull pieces of wood from a fence. She attempted to walk past officers and ignored them when she was told to stop. Officers grabbed Torres and she attempted to pull away. Torres was pushed against a patrol car and ordered to give officers her other hand which she refused so officers assisted her by pulling it behind her back.
While speaking with Torres, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected coming from her person and her emotions fluctuated. She told officers she walked from the Green Valley apartments to the residence of her significant other with whom she was upset with. Torres refused a PBT but admitted she had been drinking vodka.
Torres was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.
