Jacob D. Jones, 31, of Corning, was taken into custody April 29 at the Adams County Jail on a Union County warrant for the charges of driving while barred, possession of a controlled substance - marijuana and possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:24 p.m. Jan. 10, 2021, a 2000 Pontiac G6, known to be driven by Jones, was observed northbound on New York Avenue. Jones was known to have a barred driver’s license.

Officers located Jones walking near the now-parked Pontiac at New York Avenue and West Adams Street. While speaking with Jones, he admitted to driving the car. A glass pipe containing residue was located in his shirt pocket. The pipe was sent to the state lab, which confirmed the residue was positive for methamphetamine.

After Jones was released at the scene, he was observed walking to a car and retrieving something from the tire area. Contact was again made with Jones, who was then carrying a baggie with several small tabs inside and a rubber container containing THC wax.

Jones has a prior drug possession conviction Oct. 28, 2013, in Adams County.

Jones was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $6,000 cash or surety bond.
