An Indianola teen was cited after a one-vehicle accident Friday in Union County.
According to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 7:30 a.m. April 19 Kash N. Miller, 19, of Indianola, reported that on Friday at approximately 10:30 p.m., he had put his 2001 Dodge Dakota in the ditch at 205th Street and Ivy Avenue and he would get it removed sometime Saturday.
After receiving Miller’s report, the sheriff’s office was notified by multiple callers that there were beer cans everywhere in the ditch at the scene of the accident and two stop signs had been damaged.
An investigation determined the Dakota was northbound on Ivy Avenue when it hit a south stop sign, lost control, went into the wrong lane of traffic, hit the north stop sign and then rolled into the ditch where it came to rest. Deputies confirmed the presence of beer cans scattered around the truck. A resident in the accident vicinity told deputies they heard a crash between 10 and 11 p.m.
Damage to the Dakota was estimated at $5,000 and damage to the stop signs was estimated at $900.
Miller was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle but due to Miller leaving the accident scene and not being a resident of Union County, the citation was mailed.
