Michael D. Williams, 53, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:34 p.m. Feb. 28, in the 200 block of North Maple Street on the charge of public intoxication.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:55 p.m. an apartment resident reported Williams outside of the apartment, pounding on the door and yelling. Officers located Williams outside of the apartment. He had bloodshot, watery eyes, the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, difficulty maintaining his balance and poor fine motor skills. Williams told officers he had drank two bottles of vodka and was intoxicated.
Williams was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from for time served.

Chad S. Cozad, 35, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:36 a.m. March 1, at Montgomery and Pine streets on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:05 a.m. a vehicle was stopped for a traffic offense and contact was made with the driver, identified as Cozad. Cozad was observed to have bloodshot, watery eyes, impaired balance, slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person.
Cozad admitted to consuming alcohol and consented to field sobriety testing during which he showed clues of significant impairment. He refused a PBT.
Cozad was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he refused to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing.
Cozad was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Lucas D. Rushing, 19, of Creston, was taken into custody 4:53 p.m. March 1, at Seneca and Vine streets on a Union County warrant for the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:32 a.m. Dec. 29, 2024, an empty beer box was observed being thrown from a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox near Ringgold and Walnut streets. Officers conducted a traffic stop and contact was made with the driver, identified as Rushing. The odor of marijuana and alcohol was detected coming from the vehicle.
A probable cause search was conducted and marijuana products and alcohol were located. Rushing made admissions to smoking marijuana earlier that evening. He consented to field sobriety testing and showed numerous validated clues of impairment. He also consented to Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement testing and showed numerous indicators of impairment.
Rushing was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a sample of his urine for chemical testing. The toxicology report was received Feb. 20 from the DCI lab, which showed a positive screen for marijuana metabolites, dextromethorphan and a confirmed presence of sertraline.
Rushing was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Mauricio A. Castaneda Trejos, 25, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:15 p.m. March 2, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on three counts of harassment, third degree.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:46 p.m. a female driver reported being followed by a 2011 Chevrolet Impala on Cherry Street. She stated the driver was following her vehicle so close that they nearly made contact with her vehicle. The driver of the Impala appeared to be videotaping or taking pictures of the female and her vehicle. The actions of the driver caused the female to be alarmed and frightened.
At approximately 5:44 p.m. another female reported being followed by the same vehicle leaving the high school. The female stated as she was leaving the school, the Impala quickly turned around to follow her. She said she had made multiple turns and the Impala continued to follow her vehicle very close behind and was taking photos of her vehicle. The driver was wearing a black mask.
The female drove to the law enforcement center with the Impala behind her. Police made contact with the driver of the Impala, identified as Trejos, and spoke to the female and a juvenile in the vehicle who said Trejos’ actions caused them to be scared.
Trejos was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $900 cash or surety bond.

Shawn B. Campbell, 54, of Corning, was taken into custody 12:48 a.m March 3, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:46 p.m. March 2, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am for making an improper turn. The vehicle was also observed leaving a known drug house in the area. The driver of the Grand Am, identified as Campbell, and a passenger gave conflicting stories of why they had been at the residence. Campbell was observed to have abrupt and erratic movements and rapid speech. Campbell denied using any drugs.
Campbell had raised heat bumps on the back of his tongue and bloodshot, watery eyes. He consented to two field sobriety tests and stopped halfway through one test when he admitted to he did not remember the instructions. Campbell then refused all other field sobriety testing.
He was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he refused to provide a urine sample for chemical testing.
Campbell was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
