John D. Foster, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:17 p.m. Jan. 2, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charges of domestic abuse assault, third or subsequent offense and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:25 p.m. a female victim reported being assaulted by Foster on multiple occasions throughout the week at a residence in the 300 block of South Vine Street. The victim stated Foster struck her in the head with a golf club, hit her with a leash, hit her in the head with his hand and displayed a machete while making threatening statements. The victim was seen at the E.R. and was diagnosed with a concussion from the assaults.
Officers observed bruising to both of the victim’s arms, stomach and legs. The victim was visibly upset while speaking to officers and said she feared for her life. Foster was at the residence where the assaults were reported and had a scratch mark on his neck. Foster also made statements related to the incidents reported by the victim.
Foster has been convicted of domestic assault in 2009, 2016 and 2020 in Union County.
Foster was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond until seen by a judge.
