Brice A. Maxwell, 33, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:08 p.m. Aug. 5, at his residence on a Union County warrant for seven counts of theft, fifth degree.
According to a Creston Police report, on seven occasions Maxwell was observed on Walmart security footage failing to scan some of his items. On May 22, Maxwell did not scan $39.44 in merchandise; May 29, he did not scan $1.88 in merchandise, June 2, items totaling $6.48 were not scanned; June 4, $24.59 in merchandise was not scanned; June 18, Maxwell did not scan $6.27 in merchandise and July 4, $19.39 of merchandise was not scanned. Each time, Maxwell left the store with the unpaid items.
Maxwell was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear at his initial appearance.

Daniel B. Busenbarrick, 38, of Creston, was taken into custody 12:45 p.m. Aug. 6, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for the charge of violation of no contact/protective order.
According to a Union County report, at approximately 9:26 p.m. July 20, the protected party of a no contact order in which Busenbarrick is the defendant, reported while they were at Casey’s General Store in Afton, Busenbarrick drove past while holding up his phone and said “hi” to the victim. The victim completed a written statement of the event.
Busenbarrick was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash bond.

Jeffrey J. Lusk, 56, of Creston, was taken into custody 10:30 p.m. Aug 6, on a Union County warrant for the charge of burglary, third degree.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:02 p.m. Aug. 4, a burglary in progress was reported at a residence in the 500 block of Levy Street. When officers arrived, the house was empty but a door on the east side had been pried open.
The owners of the residence told officers they had the entire incident on camera and two men were involved. Officers observed two men, one identified by police as Lusk, enter the residence where they stole various items. Both men forgot to put on their face masks and gave the camera a clear view of their faces.
Lusk was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $5,000 cash or surety bond.
