Union County arrests - May 22, 2024

Elisia R. Savala, 33, of Creston, was taken into custody May 20 at her residence on the charge of domestic abuse assault - injury or mental illness, first offense.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 6:49 p.m. deputies responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on 165th Street in Creston. A male, identified as the boyfriend of Savala, stated Savala grabbed the collar of his shirt, causing it to rip, threw items around the house and shoved him. The victim said he was hit in the head with what he believed to be a lamp.

The victim had cuts on his left wrist and left knee and what appeared to be bruising on his left upper eyelid. Medics on scene found the victims left pupil was not responsive to light changes. He was transported to the hospital for his injuries.

Savala, who was holding a metal broom when deputies arrived, admitted to hitting the victim in the leg with the broom.

Savala was transported to the Adams County Jail and held without bond until seen by the magistrate.

Charlie W. Brown, 39, of Creston, was taken into custody May 20, on a Union County warrant for the charges of sex offender verification violation - crime against minor and child endangerment - registered sex offender.

According to Union County reports, the Iowa Department of Correctional Services provided deputies information discovered at a May 3 parole meeting with Brown. At this meeting, Brown, who is a convicted sexual offender, told his parole officer he had allowed his stepdaughter to move into his residence with an infant without prior approval from April 30-May 2. This allowed Brown to have unsupervised access to the infant. Brown also admitted to have an email and CashApp account which he had not given to his parole officer or registered on the sexual offender registry.

Deputies were provided with an admission sheet completed by Brown.

Brown was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $15,000 cash or surety bond.
