Abel Olivera Martinez, 40, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:45 p.m. May 16, at his residence on the charge of domestic abuse assault, first offense.
According to a Creston Policer report, at approximately 5 p.m. officers responded to a reported domestic assault in the 800 block of South Walnut Street. A female reported Olivera Martinez had put his hands on her and was being verbally abusive.
While speaking with the victim at the residence she stated he had slapped and pushed her. One side of the victim’s face was red as a result. Olivera Martinez admitted to pushing the victim.
Olivera Martinez was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizince on a promise to appear after seeing the magistrate.

Blake A. McDole, 28, of Osceola, was taken into custody 10:59 p.m. May 17, at the intersection of Elm and Summit streets on the charges of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:12 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a 2006 Buick Lucerne. When officers approached the Buick, a strong odor of marijuana was detected. The driver, identified as McDole, was asked if he had any marijuana in the vehicle and he admitted to having a small amount of marijuana and a pipe. Officers located and seized the pipe and a baggie containing marijuana.
McDole was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,300 cash or surety bond.

Charles T. F. Brown, 71, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:47 a.m. May 18, at the intersection of Buckeye and Cherry streets on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:20 a.m. a 2015 GMC Terrain was observed weaving in its lane and failed to stop at a stop sign. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Brown, who told officers he had four mixed drinks at a local bar. Brown was observed to have slurred speech, watery eyes and a strong odor of an alcohol coming from the vehicle. An open beer can and a plastic cup filled with a mixed alcoholic drink were observed in the vehicle.
Brown consented to and failed one field sobriety test and refused all others including a PBT. He was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result of the test indicated a BAC of .108%.
Brown was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Dulce E. Pantoja, 38, of Lenox, was taken into custody 2:50 a.m. May 19, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:59 a.m. officers observed a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse traveling 41 mph in a 25 mph zone at Sumner and Taylor streets.
A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Pantoja, who had bloodshot, watery eyes and an odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage was coming from vehicle. Pantoja made statements she had consumed one drink in Des Moines earlier in the evening.
Pantoja consented to field sobriety testing, which showed numerous validated clues of impairment and a PBT result indicated a BrAC of over .08%. Pantoja was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where she refused to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing.
Pantoja was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond. She was additionally cited for speeding - 16 through 25 mph over the limit.

Zai L. A. Glover, 19, of Johnston, was taken into custody 11:21 p.m. May 19, at Sumner and Laurel streets on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:50 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a 2012 Toyota Corolla for an equipment violation. While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, including the passenger, identified as Glover, the strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle.
Everyone was asked to exit the vehicle so officers could conduct a probable cause search, the occupants refused to exit until they spoke with a supervisor. Eventually, everyone exited the vehicle and the search was conducted. A jar, labelled as marijuana, and a bag full of burnt roaches was located in a compartment in front of the passenger seat. Glover admitted all of the items were his.
Glover was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
