Jarred Dean L. P. Lawson, 28, of Creston, was taken into custody 3:20 a.m. April 6 at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:40 a.m. a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan was stopped on Montgomery Street near Walnut Street for r=expired registration tags. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Lawson, who told officers he was going to get snacks for friends who were too drunk to drive. Lawson admitted to having several hard liquor mixed drinks prior to being stopped. He refused field sobriety testing but a PBT indicated a BrAC of over .08%.

Lawson was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing, the result indicated a BAC of .139%.

Lawson was released from the Union County Jail after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Shaune W. Tindle, 37, of Lorimor, was taken into custody 6:08 p.m. April 7 in the 600 block of West Adams Street on a Union County warrant for the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, third or subsequent offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:22 p.m. Jan. 28, officers performed a traffic stop in the 400 block of Wyoming Street. Creston Police K9 Baxo was deployed to conduct an open air sniff around the vehicle and gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. A backpack was located in the back seat of the vehicle. Inside the bag officers located a baggie with what appeared to contain marijuana. The back seat passenger, identified as Tindle, took responsibility for the substance and said he forgot it was in the bag.

Officers sent the substance to the lab for testing. On April 1, a report was received from the DCI Lab confirming the substance to be marijuana. TIndle has two or more drug related convictions.

Tindle was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $5,000 cash or surety bond.
