Creston Police arrest report - April 5, 2024

Stewart R. Andersen, 34, of Creston, was taken into custody April 2 on a Union County warrant for the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:01 a.m. March 9, a 1993 Ford F150 was stopped at Prairie and Oak streets for having a taillight out and making a wide turn into the wrong lane of traffic. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Andersen, who was observed to be very talkative, having rapid speech and quick but rigid movements.

Andersen was asked to estimate the passage of 30 seconds and estimated it at 19 actual seconds. He admitted to being an occasional marijuana user and had raised heat bumps and a green coating on his tongue. Andersen consented to standard field sobriety testing which showed validated clues of impairment. He also consented to ARIDE testing and showed indicators of impairment.

Andersen consented to provide a urine sample for chemical testing, which was sent to the DCI Criminalistics Laboratory. On March 28, a report of the results was received and showed a positive screen for marijuana metabolites.

Andersen was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Andres Martinez Jr., 28, of Creston, was taken into custody 6:07 p.m. April 4 on McKinley Street on the charge of violation of a protective order - contempt.

According to a Creston Police report, Martinez was served a protective order before being released from the Union County Jail. After his release, Martinez sent a message to the protected party at approximately 11:38 a.m. from a text message app. While speaking with officers, Martinez made statements about not going to the protected party’s residence and not seeing her, he did admit to sending a message.

Martinez was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond until seen by the magistrate.
